1. What the MultiCa is and what it can do!
Student-ID card
From the moment you receive the MultiCa, it serves as your student-ID card in German and in English.
As its English term is inscribed on the card, you may use it abroad as your student identity as well. Please visit the website of the IAETS to find out in which cases you will additionally need to purchase an international student-ID card.
A paper ID was last issued along with the MultiCa in winter semester 2007/2008. Students can print all additional certifications, such as the certificate of enrollment or the BaföG certificate, on any computer as often as they like via our Online Examination and Student Services (using PIN/TAN with verification procedure). This service has been available to all students since winter semester 2007/2008.

VRS Semester Ticket
Your MultiCa has a thermal-foil strip, which needs to bear a validity imprint generated at one of the validation stations. When used in connection with an official photo ID (identity card or passport) or a valid international student photo ID, the MultiCa serves as your ticket in the entire Rhine-Sieg transit region (VRS).

Library card
The MultiCa also functions as your library card to be used as proof of your membership and to pay your fees. This is only the beginning though, as its library functions will be expanded in the near future. You will then be able to use your MultiCa for self-checkout purposes and to use library printers with the card's integrated electronic purse.

As previously mentioned, our library intends to introduce the self-checkout of books. The MultiCa project team is confident that this function will be available to you shortly.

Access systems
The MultiCa is also designed to include certain access functions, as students and faculties have recently been requesting the extension of the opening hours of pc pools and labs as well as improved security measures for theses rooms. We are also taking issues such as access to parking lots, alternatives to key cards, etc. into consideration.
We will evaluate as to when and to what extent such functions will be feasible.
